DIY Glitter Pumps

Who doesn't like a bit of glitter? Today I'll show you how to take a plain pair of pumps from dull to glam with a few inexpensive supplies. This DIY is so easy and a lot of fun to do.

For this DIY you will need:
  • Plain Ballerina Pumps
  • Fabric Glue
  • Fine Glitter
  • Masking Tape
  • Paintbrush or Small Sponge
Start by masking off the areas you want to add glitter to. Washi tape works well as it has a low tack (won't stick too much).

Apply fabric glue to the areas where you will be adding glitter. Use a paintbrush or sponge to smooth the glue until you have an even layer.

Start shaking glitter onto the glued areas. I would suggest a fine glitter for this project because it will result in a smoother finish. It is handy to have a small piece of paper underneath as this can easily be picked up and the excess glitter poured back into its container for re-use later.

Peel the tape away whilst the glue is still wet and set the shoe aside to allow the glue to dry as per the manufacturer's instructions.

If any glue has seeped under the tape, use a flat surface to gently push it back until you have a smooth even edge. You may want to add glitter to one section at a time as it is easy to bump and scrape when still wet.

Now, go forth and sparkle!
